One of the wonderful aspects of Decentralised Finance as a whole is the variety of different projects you can engage with. Your XDEFI wallet will serve as a gateway into many of the directions you wish to explore, and the first step to establishing this gateway will be in connecting your Wallet to decentralised applications.

Below we use a decentralised exchange as an example for interaction, however we’ve also included step by step directions just below the video.

Step 1

• Click on the XDEFI Extension

A Ledger is a powerful tool, and one that puts the security of your crypto squarely in your hands. With our latest release you can now use Ledger on the Ethereum network using XDEFI Wallet. Doing so is an easy process by design.

The steps to connecting your Ledger to XDEFI are listed below, but for those of you more visually inclined here’s a video embed taking you through the process.

• Open up the extension
• Select Wallets from the bottom center of the extension
• Select “Hardware Wallet”
• Fill your password and “Confirm”
• Select “LEDGER”
• Click on “Ready”

Whilst you can only restore an existing wallet upon onboarding using your seed phrase and wallet password, you can import a wallet from within XDEFI using a Keystore file (.txt or .json).

Below you’ll find a video showing you how to do so with more detailed instructions below it:

• Click the XDEFI icon in the top right corner of your browser
• Press ‘Lets Get Started’
• Read and agree to the ‘terms and conditions’
• Press ‘import XDEFI Wallet’
• Fill your password
• Click on “Browse”
• Select your XDEFI Wallet .json back up file saved in your computer
• Enter in the password of the XDEFI Wallet .json back up file
• Read and Check “I have read and agree to the Terms of use” (if you agree)
• Click “Import”

If you have your XDEFI (or other) secret phrase in hand, you can always reinstall your wallet easily on XDEFI Wallet. The process is incredibly straightforward

• Read and agree to the ‘terms and conditions’
• Press ‘import XDEFI Wallet’
• Press ‘restore with secret phrase’
• Enter your saved Secret phrase
• Create a new password for the wallet
• Select a name for your wallet, and click ‘next’
• Press the extension icon…

You should back up your Secret Phrase during the onboarding process. If you want to access it thereafter or download your keystore file, please read this article.

Whilst we do not recommend using several wallets as a ‘rule of thumb,’ we understand the need for this functionality for some of our more advanced community members.

Though several wallets will require several secret phrases as a consequence, we now give you the ability to back up your wallets altogether through our ‘JSON’ backup process.

With XDEFI you have the freedom to create accounts within wallets, however we do understand it’s equally important for some of our community members to be able to create an entirely new wallet as needed.

🚨 If you are not an advanced user, we do not recommend creating several wallets as it requires dealing with several seed phrases 🚨

Below you’ll find a video explaining how you can do so, and further below the embed you’ll see step by step instructions taking you through how to do this.

• Open up the extension
• Select Wallets from the bottom center of the extension
• Select ‘Create Wallet’
• Enter your password and press ‘confirm’
• You should now see a wallet with a number incrementally larger by 1 (i.e. 2, 3, 4)

Now that you have your XDEFI extension set up, you may wish to set up multiple accounts. Doing so is pretty simple.

We’ve put a video taking you through this process here, however for clarity, you’ll find step by step instructions below

• Open up the extension
• Select Wallets from the bottom center of the extension
• Select your nominated wallet (and press it)
• Select ‘Create Account’
• You should now see a new account in addition to the accounts you’ve seen previously
• When selecting the account chevron on the right side you should see multiple chains associated with said account
• The new account should now be clickable in the main menu and you can rename it using the three dots option
