How to get started with XDEFI Wallet — Part II
In Part 1 of this series, we went over how to get, install, and deploy your wallet. In this post, we hope to answer a few questions about how you can set up your XDEFI Wallet if you are already an existing user.
What do you need to recover your Wallet?
In Part 1, we spoke about backing up your wallet and ensuring you saved some very important information. Below we will go into how you can utilize these backups to regain access to your wallet, namely:
- The JSON file you saved when backing up your wallet.
- Your wallet Password
- Your recovery code UUID (for users who had access before 25/04 the XDEFI Wallet seedphrase still works too)
- Seedphrases for your respective accounts (in practice you do not NEED those to restore your wallet, the JSON file is enough but this is better for a best practice perspective).
How do you restore without your password in case you forgot it?
To restore from the locked screen without your wallet password you’ll need your XDEFI Wallet recovery code (UUID). If you have it in hand you can recover in 4 easy steps:
Step 1: Click on Restore using recovery code (just below the Log in button)
Step 2: Enter your recovery code
Step 3: Enter your New password and confirm it
Step 4: Accept the Terms of Use, then click Import

What If you need to update your XDEFI Wallet or move to another browser?
In both cases, the action is the same. Back everything up. You can never be too careful.
If you update your XDEFI Wallet
You should back everything up, and once safely saved/stored feel free to update (and don’t forget to give us feedback).
If you move your XDEFI Wallet to a new browser
Back up your XDEFI Wallet before you do anything. Once everything is safely saved/stored you’ll want to download the extension using the instructions in Part 1 and then restore it using the steps above.
IMPORTANT
Note that the difference between XDEFI Wallet and other wallet providers is that if you restore or import an existing wallet, you will find it in the exact same state as you left it.
- You will not have to re-label your accounts
- You will not have to re-add manually your token one by one
- You will not have to re-add all your addresses in the address book
This is the advantage of this process, everything remains the same and you can load it up in a few clicks.
